2016 Bianchi Volpe

Bianchi's Volpe is a versatile go-anywhere-on-any-road bike. It's equally at home on pavement and dirt, ready for long and short rides, and capable of fully-loaded long-distance touring! Its lightweight chromoly frameset accelerates, climbs, and corners like a dream while soaking up road vibrations for sweet comfort. And, the Volpe boasts a 30-speed Shimano Tiagra drivetrain for cruising over hill and dale, while the cantilever brakes deliver serious stopping power and super mud and fender clearance. Plus, the reliable Bianchi 700c rims and 28mm-wide Vittoria tires mean you'll cruise quickly and comfortably over nearly any surface.

    Comments:

My wife and I purchased a 2014 Volpe (for her) and a 2015 Volpe (for me). The only reason for this is she preferred the light blue offered in '14, while I preferred the matte black offered in '15. Both bikes have been stellar and only have minor differences. These represent our first road bikes, which we purchased in Delaware, OH. We are both glad we made the investment. While we still have our hybrids, the Volpes are much more responsive and comfortable over the long haul. My wife and I rode our first century on these bikes and they performed admirably. The Tiagra groupset proved reliable and quick-shifting. The steel frame feels light and responsive, but solid. We have not been cycling long, but feel these bikes have been a solid investment. When one considers the bikes cost about the same as an annual gym membership, it puts everything in perspective as our Volpes will undoubtedly provide many years of service. The only critique of the '14 (and it is a minor one) would be that it came equipped with knobby tires, which I believe were 700x32. As we will stay mainly on pavement, we swapped these out for 700x28 Bontrager road tires. Someone else may have preferred the knobbies. My '15 came with 700x28 Vittoria Randonneurs, which have been great. We plan to use these for light touring, centuries and local charity rides. If any of our friends were looking into steel road bikes, we would both highly recommend the Volpe!

      Comments:

I will typically ride 25 to 60 miles in a day, 2 to 3 times a week. All casual. 57 years old, first bike since the 60's, (Heard I was there, faint memories!) I've put on 400 miles and love it. Stock tires ride well and grip on trails and stoned pavement. Added interupters are really convenient. Shifts well and great gear range. Haven't had to walk up any steep hills and had it up to 40 going down. I could definitely see staying within the Bianchi line for my next bike.
